What Astral Is
Astral is an AI-assisted trading workstation. The product is built around one loop: research a market, express a trade idea, turn it into rules, inspect the result on charts, test it, save it, and then monitor or deploy it from the rest of the app.
Astral is not a single chat box with charts attached. It is a connected workspace with separate surfaces for building, monitoring, manual intervention, account review, and strategy reuse.
The primary workbench. Use chat, charts, indicators, drawings, code/backtest output, side panels, alerts, manual orders, watchlists, and broker panels from one desktop layout.
The monitoring layer. Use widgets to review portfolio status, positions, notifications, connected brokers, strategies, account data, and chart snapshots without reopening a terminal session.
The discovery and publishing layer. Browse strategies and indicators, open detail pages, save items to your library, comment, and publish your own work.
The operational layer for connected accounts, live broker data, strategy deployment, manual orders, conditional orders, and order/position review.
The core mental model
- Use chat to draft or revise a strategy. Ask for a strategy, an indicator, a backtest, a chart review, or a change to an existing setup.
- Use the chart to inspect the idea. Change symbols, intervals, chart types, overlays, volume colors, indicators, and drawings.
- Use code/backtest output to validate the logic. Review the generated rules and compare return, drawdown, win rate, and trade count together.
- Save or publish useful work. Saved strategies and indicators become reusable assets. Published assets can appear in Explore.
- Operate from side panels and Dashboard. Monitor watchlists, positions, orders, alerts, notifications, and broker account data.
- Use broker-connected features carefully. Broker data and orders are live-account surfaces. Your broker remains the source of truth for balances, fills, restrictions, and order state.
Product surfaces at a glance
Terminal
Use Terminal when you are actively working. It contains the left chat/sidebar, central chart and code/backtest area, and the right rail for panels such as watchlist, manual alerts, strategies, portfolio, orders, notifications, and manual trading.
Dashboard
Use Dashboard when you are monitoring. It is widget-based and supports configurable layout, account overview, sector allocation, positions, broker connection state, strategy cards, notifications, watchlist previews, and charts.
Explore
Use Explore when you want reusable work. It has home/feed/detail flows for strategies and indicators, saved library views, comments, publish flows, generated descriptions, and public routes for shared assets.
Docs and changelog
Use Docs for workflows and reference. Use Changelog for developer-focused release notes about product and platform changes.
Important
Astral can help build, review, monitor, and route trading workflows, but you are responsible for deciding whether a trade, strategy, alert, or broker action is appropriate. Live broker accounts are governed by broker-side rules, permissions, fees, settlement behavior, and market conditions.
